Investigation on The Yin-Yang Token (1)

The Yin-Yang Token is a mirror used in Taoism that has a bronze mirror in the center.
It has the power to chase away evil and illuminate the truth.

The Yin-Yang token is octagonal and is inscribed with the eight trigrams, a mirror in the center, and the yin-yang symbol on the backside.
It is sometimes used in movies.

When energy is instilled in the token, it can unleash the energy chase away or destroy evil.
However, it is also said that simply reflecting light off the bronze mirror can yield the same effect.

Our school also has an Yin-yang Token on display in the History Room.

태극패 조사 내용 (1)

태극패(太極牌)는 도교에서 사용하는 거울로 가운데 동경이 박혀 있으며 마물을 쫓거나 진실을 보여주는 힘을 가지고 있다.

태극패는 팔각형의 모양에 팔괘가 새겨져 있으며 가운데에 동경, 그 뒷면에는 태극무늬가 있다. 영화 속에서 소품으로 가끔 등장하기도 한다.

태극패에 기를 주입하면 태극패를 통해 기가 방출되어 마물을 쫓거나 멸할 수 있지만, 동경에 반사된 빛만으로도 마물을 쫓을 수 있다고 한다.

본교 역사관에도 태극패가 전시되어 있다.
